Job Description

Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems.

  • Directly supervise maintenance staff. 
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Westlake’s policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Direct day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
  • Increase maintenance effectiveness with daily tasks supporting production, site and infrastructure.
  • Review work orders to determine work priorities.  Schedule repair, maintenance and installation of equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies required for operations.
  • Establish proficient maintenance stores procurement and inventory control systems.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance program
  • Develop and manage departmental budget
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Review new product/process plans and discuss equipment needs and modification with design engineers
  • Confer with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve safety issues and maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Manage and maintain metrics to measure the performance of all maintenance functions.
  • Provide and develop training for subordinate personnel.
  • Administer company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees and ensure that employees follow established safety rules to ensure the goal of zero injuries.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with employees and supervisors/managers.

Associate’s degree in a technical field or 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three to five years of supervisory or managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in managing departmental budget.

  • Creating and implementing a project management program experience is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate workforce.

  • Experience in extrusion or plastics in preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present information to large groups.

  •  Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and interpret results
