Job Description

Drives specification sales activities to completion within a stage gate system in the assigned region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works with Factory Sales Representatives and Independent Rep Agencies to deliver regions budgeted goals and a balanced value/volume selling model. Drives specification selling process to progress towards closing projects. Provides field service support on key jobsite installations. Manage plan that targets top engineering firms and municipalities within the assigned region to educate and present North American’s value proposition. Leads the Market Development Specialist, factory sales reps and independent reps, when appropriate, to identify and progress top project opportunities for both the standard and specialty side of the business. Coordinates and co-develops with marketing and other regional specification reps necessary presentations and sales tools to help establish a common sales & marketing message. Manage  key opportunities and contacts in SalesForce to improve our ability to “Target>Specify>Track>Close” projects and build long-term annuity relationships with engineering firms and municipalities. Generates new key accounts / top opportunities to influence and grow North American Pipe specifications particularly specialty products. Analyzes project and firm opportunities through internet and subscription based lead generation tools. Assists other departments such as technical services and others within the organization to prepare manuals, technical publications and guide specifications. Prepare sales report and specification performance to budget reports quarterly.  Report will reflect status, gaps and potential additions to the tools and promotional events Keep current with market conditions through contact with decision making customers, reps, municipalities and industry influencers such as key contractors. Documents and communicates relevant trends in the region Contact technical service to remain current with quality/field service issues. Performs additional duties as assigned.

None.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Requires a solid understanding of the sales and marketing functions.  Prefer to have an in depth knowledge and experience within the water & wastewater product specification industry. Must have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both written and oral), innovative and strategic thinker (as well as analytical), and have strong interpersonal skills (strong motivator).    This individual must have a strong foundation in relationship building and presentation skills.  In addition, this individual must be self-directed and ability to work with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a BA in Engineering, prefer a P.E. designation.  A minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Industry-Specific Sales or Engineering Experience.  Prior experience  working with engineers and municipalities to drive specification sales is a plus. Must be computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Up to 85% travel may be required.
