Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Flexible Segment Product Manager, the Product Specialist is accountable for assisting with the product management day-to-day activities, initiatives and overall execution of the segment strategy. The Product Specialist will closely interact with Customer Service, Sales, Production Planning, Technical Service and Engineering, Operations, Logistics and Finance to implement plans, and accurately track and report product sales performance, and inquiries from the field sales team as needed. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support product management activities for our three product segments:  Flexible, Rigid and Powder on the overall product line strategies, profitability analysis, Monthly and quarterly executive presentations, annual budget process, financial forecast, Customer Debits/credits, internal transfer pricing, technical work request prioritization, approving samples, etc.
  • Manage all pricing for the Compounds business in the SAP/Vistex system and provide price sheets for sales
  • Overall contract management and rebate support for Product Managers and Sales
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Facilitates supply chain and customer service efforts ie. regarding product availability,  reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules. 
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • .Evaluate competitive products and regional preferences. Identify gaps and opportunities for product line extensions to better service the various markets
  • Provide historical performance research as input for new product development
  • Collaborate with other departments to expedite special / customer requests
  • Participate on project teams as assigned
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Technical managers to support successful new product launches
  • Support strategic customer projects and marketplace initiatives as required.
  • Assist in the resolution of complaints and claims; support Technical Manager as needed
  • Generally negotiate conflicting interests as they arise and seek mutually beneficial resolutions
  • Work with production planning and customer service to prioritize customer ordersas needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to expedite requests and initiatives
  • Must work safely and maintain a safe work environment and perform work as required by supervisor
  • Other duties as assign by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; 2 to 5 year experience in product management, sales, finance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated, self-starter, interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable organizational  & planning skills
  • Software:  experience /demonstrated ability to learn Salesforce, Stratum and SAP.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable with conflict resolution
  • Multitasker
  • Math skills and fundamental understanding of business principles (profit & loss, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and write basic English; proficiency in second language desired (Spanish, French)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Capable of working in office, plant and lab environment.  Travel  up to 25%
