Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing financial accounting and analysis to support the Controller and the Finance Group for the Trim & Mouldings business. Responsibilities encompass monthly financial close and reporting, assisting with annual budgets and monthly forecasts, maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and performance of month-end closing activities related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting for the Trim & Mouldings business. Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting of results.
  • Maintain monthly account reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled timely within the month end cycle, and that adjustments are made promptly.
  • Review the Hard Close Binder on a monthly basis, ensuring its completion is timely and accurate, and all supporting documentation is included, in accordance with the Review Checklist.
  • Prepare monthly entries, maintain, and perform analysis for various accounts, including Consignment Inventory Sales, Rebates, and Discounts.
  • Assist Controller with monthly analysis and reporting of financial results, including monthly and quarterly reporting (e.g. ART, Management Estimates).
  • Oversee Capital Expenditures, prepare monthly Capital Asset reporting, and ensure projects are Capitalized timely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Prepare various schedules and analyses on a monthly basis including inventory, sales, profitability, statistics, and operational metrics.
  • Ensure commodity taxes are remitted in accordance with government regulations
  • Prepare Annual Tax Package.
  • Respond to inquiries (internal and external) for financial information and analysis.
  • Maintain and file all financial reporting information as per departmental and Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines
  • Participate in quarterly and annual inventory counts.
  • Assist the controller in managing Sarbanes Oxley compliance and training.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in process and systems.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a university degree.
  • Formal accounting designation (CPA).
  • Minimum 3 years of financial accounting experience in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate a high proficiency in using various applications, including MS Office and advance Excel skills.
  • Experience with corporate reporting requirements, external/internal audits.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and financial reporting controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, utilizing effective time management skills, to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving skills and proven analytical ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
