Job Description


The Payroll Analyst performs all functions and processes related to the U.S. payrolls for Westlake Chemical Corporation and its affiliates.  Assists the Sr. Payroll Analyst and Payroll Supervisor with departmental duties and responsibilities.  Reports to the Payroll Supervisor.  Works closely with Benefits, Human Resources, Accounting, Legal, field locations, and employees at all levels throughout the company.


  • Maintains employee data in payroll system
  • Initiates time import into payroll system
  • Balances hours according to earning codes
  • Prepares and transmits payroll data to payroll provider offsite for gross to net calculation on a timely basis for each pay cycle and special pay cycle request
  • Prepares manual checks and adjustment payroll entries as needed
  • Reviews post-processing payroll reports for errors
  • Verifies the pay cycle calendar is set up for future payrolls
  • Reviews and balances the general ledger journal entries
  • Prepares reports for use by HR Management in bonus calculations
  • Performs bank reconciliation and tracking of outstanding live checks
  • Processes and maintains involuntary employee deductions
  • Reconciles 3rd party pays
  • Identifies straightforward issues and attempts to discuss possible resolutions with supervisor
  • Develops and maintains administrative procedures relative to the functions of this position
  • Serves as backup to co-workers for certain tasks as determined by management


  • Knowledge of payroll processes, calculations, and functions
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Analytical ability with aptitude for detail and systems
  • Knowledge of ProBusiness and KRONOS systems or similar a plus
  • Interpersonal skills and team work orientation to handle issues with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Payroll accounting experience is preferred and Human Resources experience is a plus.
  • Requires moderate supervision


  • Minimum of 3 years payroll experience in a large computerized multi-state payroll function.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
