Summary


The Manager, HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a key role in engaging and supporting leaders and employees with a wide range of HR initiatives, operational processes / procedures, tactical issues and employee relations efforts. The HRBP builds positive working relationships and acts as a contact for leaders and employees within the assigned business unit(s).

This role spends 40% of the time operating as a strategic partner to leaders, 40% of the time operating as an engagement partner, and the remaining 20% of the time handling employee relations. This role is a direct report

to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Regional HRBP Manager overseeing the Westlake South Facility in the Lake Charles, Louisiana with approximately 1200 employees.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engages leaders and employees in delivery of HR processes, procedures, and practices within assigned business unit (s).
  • Coaches leaders and employees on people management and employee relations matters and ensures compliance with employment law.
  • Maximizes Westlake’s Strategic Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Total Rewards) to build a pipeline of readily available top talent; to drive performance management, talent review, succession planning, training and development; and to offer market competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Manage union relations including facilitating union/management meetings, manage grievance processes, execute labor negotiations, and provide strategy and leadership.
  • Identifies gaps in individual, team, and leader performance as well as organizational structure, and acts as a performance improvement driver in promoting and implementing change management initiatives within assigned business unit(s).
  • Implements and evaluates people management practices designed to improve individual, team, and business performance.
  • Promotes and drives transfer of best practices across HR and throughout the organization as applicable. 
  • Leads or participates on special projects as required.
  • Track/Analyze HR metrics and develop and execute action plans to address problem areas. 
  • Investigate MySafeWorkplace Hotline calls.

  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others.
  • Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • BA/BS in related field.
  • Seven years of applicable experience with increasing responsibility in functional areas including: Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Compensation Administration, Performance Management & Training.
  • PHR, SPHR, or other HR related certification highly preferred.
  • Experience in employee relations, HR generalist duties, and/or HR specialist duties, policy implementation and labor/employment law.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Workday, HRIS, and other job specific technology as required.
