Job Description

Manages staff and communicates with Production group to prioritize significant maintenance activities and gives required direction and/or support.

Reviews and maintains the standard Maintenance Procedures, Preventive/Predictive Maintenance Plans, Mechanical Integrity Program and the subsequent revisions. Directs and monitors plant maintenance activities through daily communication with key personnel.

Evaluate and ensure implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance program for plant equipment.

Provides technical support in addressing plant maintenance issues including recommendations and executing approved modifications of equipment.

Cost analysis and proposal creation for general equipment repair or improvement and parts, materials and equipment for repairs and turnarounds.

 Plans and supervises maintenance work during outages to keep downtime to a minimum.

Reviews, as needed, SAP purchasing requisitions for spare parts, tools/materials for maintenance projects and services, office supplies and furniture/equipment, etc., originated from the Maintenance Department.  Reviews quotations from vendors if requested by Operations Manager. Reviews and directs actions to improve efficiencies and reduce maintenance expense costs.

Prepares yearly expense budget for Maintenance Department.  Reviews and controls budget monthly.  Discusses with staff, Operations personnel, and Accounting Supervisor to locate any deviations and works out required actions.

Manages preparation of yearly capital budget, as needed, for Maintenance Department and submits to Operations Manager.  Reviews detail AFE’s submitted by Maintenance Department and forwards to Operations Manager for approval. Monitors the implementation of Maintenance AFE projects after approval.

 Reviews, as needed, questionable or disputed payments to contractors or vendors.

Promotes and supports, by example, the maintenance’s portion of the HS&E and Quality programs/systems.

Proactively develops and reviews the organization and actively participates in the hiring process to fill the proper position as the situation arises.

Contacts, with Purchasing involvement, outside contractors/vendors seeking new materials, tools, equipment or techniques to improve the performance of area maintenance equipment.

Responsible for the planning of programs to improve the technical/skills/human resource development of the employees of the Area Maintenance/Reliability Department.

 Develop and review goals/targets performance, quarterly, and provide an appraisal for each salaried of maintenance employee annually.

Manages special projects, as assigned, by the Maintenance Manager, to ensure cost effective maintenance services.


 B.S. Degree in Engineering or ten years Maintenance experience.
