    JOB SUMMARY: Royal Building Products is currently looking to fill a vacancy for a General Manager for our Distribution Division located in Woodbridge, Ontario.

    The General Manager is responsible for the profitability of the Distribution business and to direct its branches to produce world class results. The branch managers in the region will report directly to the GM and the Regional Manager. The GM focuses on leading his/her branch managers to maximize profits (EBITDA) and ROI and grow the business. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate world class financial results through leadership focused on people and customers, in full alignment with Royal Building Products business model;
  • Participate on the Exteriors executive team working on overall business strategy and the successful execution of established goals.
  • Develop and execute appropriate strategies and actions to increase sales, improve operating efficiencies, manage assets toachieve target ROI andbonus targets;
  • Hire and develop employees to create a high performance team;
  • Meet regularly with branch managers to discuss strategy and execution of the branch growth plans;
  • Oversee all aspects of branch operations through the branch managers;
  • Ensure that the branches deliver world class customer satisfaction through operational effectiveness;
  • Identify new markets and increase market share;
  • Direct, mentor, and provide sales coaching to the sales team and branch managers;
  • Be an active member of the Distribution leadership team and take part in developing business strategy for the distribution business;
  • Ensure that all branches safeguard and maintain assets – buildings, fleet, equipment, inventory and receivables;
  • Ensure that branches maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Company policies and procedures;
  • Proven ability to develop and work with multiple and cross-functional stake-holders from the various business units.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • University degree backed by 10+ years of relevant experience within sales management or profit center or branch management in a business-to-business sales environment;
  • Excellent sales and sales leadership skills. A track record of improving sales is essential;
  • Ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with customers and vendors and capability of leading a highly effective branch manager team;
  • Strong understanding of the bottom-line and operations;
  • Ability to drive constant improvement in the distribution process;
  • Excellent people management skills. Ability to lead an experienced team, inspiring them and providing the vision to take the team to new levels of performance in sales and customer service;
  • Solid business acumen to effectively interpret financial report data to determine success/failure of plans and follow-up with appropriate actions and adjustments to ensure success.Ability to make difficult decisions in order to do what is best for the business and the Company;
  • Experience with successful remote management;
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time within Canada;
