Job Description


Apply relevant experience, technical knowledge and a detailed oriented approach to improve product documentation and document management systems.  Oversee product document management tools, 2D and 3D data accuracy and the creation of product drawings and specifications.   Be comfortable working in a team environment and collaborate cross functionally within the business.  

Out-of-town travel estimated at approximately 10% (plant visits, training opportunities, trips to observe product installations, vendor interface, etc.)


Major Responsibilities - - - - - - -

EPDM Administration

  • Work with SolidWorks Enterprise Data Management tool to process engineering change notices, new document requests and ensure workflows are efficiently executed.
  • Develop data cards, file management, workflow routings and user tools within SolidWorks EPDM to support the cross-functional business use of the tool.
  • Assist in the creation on new parts, SKUs, and bill of materials within Solidworks, the EPDM tool and SAP.
  • Train new users on EPDM functionality, workflow usage and proper data management best practices.
  • Manage user profiles, authorities and access levels within EPDM.
  • Develop new documentation templates and automation tools for Project Management, Product Documentation and other business documents.

Product Documentation

  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of current products and new concepts to support the products.
  • Create Solidworks design tables to define product platforms using linked dimensions and formulas.
  • Check product drawings, quality documents and critical characteristics lists to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.  Calculate tolerance stack ups to ensure designs meet requirements throughout tolerance ranges
  • Automate drawing creation process utilizing Solidworks, EPDM and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Provide best practice training on SolidWorks modeling to new users.

ECN/QCN Processing

  • Oversee the Engineering Change Notification process from new SKU request through production implementation
  • Ensure each step of the process is effectively carried out, and all critical data is updated, communicated and documented.
  • Manage the quality document change process to ensure all quality information is up to date and controlled in the EPDM system.
  • Steamline/improve document management workflows using process mapping best practices.

Required Background

  • 2 year technical degree with applicable hands on experience or B.S. Engineering with relevant, applicable course and lab experience.  Demonstrated 2D drafting and 3D modelling experience (Solidworks strongly preferred).  Product Data Management system administration experience, or similar data management tool administration is important.   Knowledge of extrusion and injection molding processes is valuable.  A level of computer programming knowledge (MS-SQL, C++ or similar) is beneficial.  Training for these skills will be provided to the right candidate.

Skills Required

  • Proficiency with 3d modeling systems, 2d drafting and product dimensioning
  • Strong Microsoft Office capabilities including macro implementation, template development and Excel spreadsheet programming.
  • MS-SQL database management experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Good communication skills with a focus on clear, concise and accurate written and oral presentation.
  • Understanding of product critical characteristics, dimensioning tolerance and GD-T standards
  • Hands on Experience working in a technical PDM system (EPDM preferred, WindChill or similar considered)
