Job Description

Provide engineering support to site to ensure installation, configuration, and functionality of various instrumentation and computer systems.

Position Requirements:

• Recommend, Specify and facilitate purchasing for various instrumentation and electrical components and applications.

• Provide technical support to Maintenance, Operations and Environmental groups on instrumentation issues.

• Develop job scopes and drawing packages for small instrumentation/electrical projects.

• Provide support to site on specification of instrumentation and computer systems for plant projects. Review project design packages for proper design regarding reliability, application and maintenance requirements.

• Ensure proper documentation on all instrumentation/electrical equipment including equipment files, drawings, specifications, calibration sheets, manuals, etc.

• Provide technical support for electrical issues on systems operating at 480V and below. Includes motor control, lighting, relay logic control systems, power supply to equipment, etc.

• Work to improve reliability of process control valves. Develop plans for monitoring performance and addressing problem areas. Assist Maintenance in development of repair/upgrade scopes for major turnarounds.

• DCS administration and coordination of but not limited to:  DCS involved projects and/or control system modifications, software and hardware upgrades, diagnostic monitoring of system, image and project backups, testing of configurations, interface with factory rep on maintenance visits, power supply monitoring, cleaning and inspection, keep maintenance log current, maintain spare parts and hot standby system, history backups and maintenance, monitor DCS network for communication errors.

• Regulatory control loop tuning.

• Operations support runtime and during unit startup/shutdown.

• PLC/MMI administration and coordination of but not limited to:  PLC/MMI involved projects and/or control system modifications, maintain PLC/MMI software programs and database documents, provide technical support to maintenance on PLC/MMI troubleshooting, program PLC/MMI for projects, software and hardware upgrades, maintain spare parts and hot standby systems.

• Develop and maintain critical instrumentation list.

• Keep interlock and ESD matrix current and keep documentation on SP84 interlock testing current.

• Troubleshoot respective Unit’s sustained instrumentation problems.

• Keep instrument database, loopsheets, and calibration sheets current.

• Provide technical analytical support to I/E maintenance.

• Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate; promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attend Monthly Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Engineering (EE, ME, ChE) with 3- 7 years industrial experience.
