Job Description

SUMMARY

Have a basic knowledge of the plants layout Compressed Air system, Chilled Water, Recycled Water

And City Water systems, Electrical Distribution Panels, Buss Bar Disconnects, Primary Circuit Breakers. Maintains all equipment in all areas of the plant. Covers all emergency break downs and repairs in a timely manner. Possess basic troubleshooting skills electrical and mechanical. Have basic welding and fabricating skills. Performs lubrication and filter replacement on all manufacturing equipment.  Duties include Oil Changes, Greasing, inspections and filter replacement, Painting and cleaning. This position also has the responsibility to perform any mechanical and electrical tasks as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to complete routine assignments without direct supervision.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
  • Possess the skill and ability to the top skilled tech level I position in the plant and perform all basic mechanical and electrical duties required.
  • Cover all emergency break downs and repairs in a timely manner.
  • Make shift rounds a minimum of twice per shift checking all Air Compressors, Chillers Compressors, Chilled Water Pumps, Pit Water Pump check Dry Blend and Silos for leaks, repair and clean up as needed report any and all Powder leaks.
  • Check, add or change oil levels in gear boxes and pumps i.e. Extruders, Pullers, Saws, etc.
  • Maintain/service plant wide systems.
  • Ability to determine when filters need cleaned or replaced  all equipment
  • No Supervisory responsibility

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires High school diploma or (GED); and a minimum of 2 years experience in this department or three or more years in industrial maintenance. Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows based software (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint) required
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Results oriented with the passion, initiative, and drive to achieve
  • Effective 2-way communication skills (verbal, written & listening)
  • Analytical & detail oriented

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to sustained loud noise (PPE is provided), moving mechanical parts, extremes of temperatures (cold in winter, heat/humidity in summer), and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, rarely to toxic or caustic chemicals; frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, and vibration.
