Assistant 1 – PVC

Westlake Chemical is offering an opportunity to apply your experience and skills as an Assistant 1 based in Plaquemine, LA in the PVC Department.  This position will be responsible for providing administrative support to the PVC Department staff to ensure the efficient and organized operation of the department. 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The essential duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain calendars for individuals and/or meeting rooms.  May coordinate meetings (meals, agendas, minutes); ensure meeting locations are prepped prior to and after meetings.
  • Greet visitors and others and assists in resolving requests as needed.
  • Collect, assemble, and summarize information as directed and may create documents from the data such as charts/tables, reports, or basic presentation slides.
  • Compose routine letters and memoranda as directed.
  • Maintain supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; place and expedite orders for supplies; verify receipt of supplies; pick up supplies
  • May complete a variety of basic HR and Finance related transactions. This may include data entry, spreadsheet management, procurement card transactions, procurement card receipt tracking and reconciliation.
  • Fax and scan documents and reports; maintain bulletin boards; mail sorting and distribution.
  • Generate and distribute month end production reports
  • Maintain training, qualification, procedure, etc. documentation and records
  • Assist in scanning, uploading and managing documents in an electronic document system and on computer networks
  • Update and maintain personnel rosters
  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential skills and qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years previous administrative experience; excellent organizational and communication skills, verbal and written; proficient computer skills, with good working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet applications; and the ability to learn all company software applications and databases. ability to handle multiple tasks, accepting responsibility and accountability for those tasks; able to work independently and make decisions within the scope of responsibilities; proactive and positive attitude towards working with others in a team environment.
