SUMMARY:


The Financial Planning and Analysis Department provides essential information flows and analysis to the CEO, CFO, CAO and other senior management personnel with regard to corporate financial forecasts, mergers and acquisitions, capital and operating budgets for the coming year and five year financial forecasts and other ad hoc business analysis as requested. The department is also responsible for the production of the quarterly earnings release, the conference call script and the support information for the investor conference call (the Q & A and the Conference Call Books). This position regularly interacts with the CAO and the Senior Management team, as well as other department managers and support staff. The incumbent must have good communications skills and be able to comfortably interact with personnel at all levels within the Company.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generates financial reports and related analysis for Senior Management and Board meetings (Westlake Chemical and Westlake Chemical Partners), quarterly reviews, monthly reviews and other Senior Management meetings
  • Assist in planning and analysis functions including: short and long range strategic planning, operational and capital budgeting, interfacing with tax and treasury on interdisciplinary projects, and monitoring actual results vs budget and forecast projections
  • Monitor compliance with partnership agreements and debt covenants
  • Monitor compliance with corporate credit agreements
  • Oversee monthly reporting of prices and volumes, capital spending projections, cash flows and other required reports
  • Assist in development of long range forecasts
  • Assist in the analysis, data book and preparation of quarterly conference call material including press releases, conference call scripts and other supporting materials
  • Provide analysis and support to Corporate Development projects as needed (modeling, due diligence, alternative investments, rankings, etc.)
  • Support for the Investor Relations function and analyses used for investors, bankers and analysts
  • Support for the Treasury function in capital market transactions
  • Prepare competitor data reporting and analyses
  • Provide any ad hoc reports and analysis to senior management as needed
  • Monitor and report market developments and industry news

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


None to very limited. Short term supervisory responsibility may be assigned from time to time over other analysts to accomplish projects on a timely basis.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with progressive technical and operational business experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance related fields
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred
  • Strong financial analysis and cost accounting experience is preferred
  • Interest in corporate finance theory and capital markets
  • The individual must be proficient with spreadsheet programs, including EXCEL
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to use a computer, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environment is in an office setting.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
