Job Description

Position Summary: 


This position provides support to the Engineering Department staff to ensure the efficient and organized operation of the DCS and PLC systems. 


Duties and Responsibilities:


DCS administration and coordination including the following:


DCS involved projects and/or control system modifications, software and hardware upgrades, diagnostic monitoring of system and image and project backups

Testing of configurations

Interface with factory rep on maintenance visits

History backups and maintenance

Monitor DCS network for communication errors

Provide DCS/PLC and applications training to other group members

Data Historian Configuration

Operations support runtime and during unit startup/shutdown


PLC/DCS administration and coordination including the following:


PLC/DCS involved projects and/or control system modifications

Maintain PLC/DCS software programs and database documents

Provide technical support to maintenance on PLC/DCS troubleshooting

Program PLC/DCS for projects

Software and hardware upgrades and plant expansions

Provided technical analytical support to site

Help to maintain plant intranet site.

Help with site wide IT support.

Help with site wide phone system support. 

Support any software/hardware launches for the site.

Develop and maintain desktop applications for Operations.  (Examples:  Employee Database, Daily Reporting Systems, HSE TAPS Database, Quarterly Measures, LOTO Database, CSR and Engineering Project Tracking Databases and I.V. Reports

Maintain Hand Held Terminals for manual data logging

Provide backup PC and Printer support

Keep DCS/PLC I/O database

Provide on-call services for entire site computer and DCS infrastructure (8 week rotation)


Fully support company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on projects teams.


Education and Experience:

B.S. Degree in Engineering, Information Technology or a related field preferred.  Minimum of 4-7 years in a DCS or Applications role preferred with applicable software and hardware experience.  Chemical industry experience preferred.
