Job Description


Under the direction of the Tax Supervisor, prepare and maintain the quarterly/annual ASC 740 tax provision function for various subsidiaries of Westlake Chemical, prepare related federal and state tax returns, all utilizing a detailed knowledge of appropriate tax provision and tax compliance software, provide assistance to the Tax Supervisor and Tax Director in special federal/state tax research and planning projects, and consult with or supervise accounting personnel at business units on state and local tax matters.


May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual ASC 740 federal and state tax provisions for various Westlake Chemical subsidiaries using OneSource Tax Provision software.  .
  • Prepare federal income tax returns for various Westlake subsidiaries included in the federal consolidated return, state separate and combined income/franchise tax returns for these entities, and any additional tax compliance as needed (such as amended returns, tax refund claims, etc.), all using applicable tax software; consult with Corporate and Business Unit Accounting groups as part of this function.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain separate tax depreciation schedules for all companies for return filing and tax provision purposes, and for current and future tax estimates, using tax depreciation software.
  • Assist Tax Supervisor in preparation of schedules for quarterly estimates of federal income taxes and state income/franchise taxes using tax provision software.
  • Assistance to Tax Supervisor in tax research and planning and occasional assistance to Tax Director on special tax projects, both federal and state, as assigned.
  • Direct consultation with accounting personnel at business unit locations regarding state and local tax filings, and tax planning actions including state and local tax credit incentives.

  • Masters in Accountancy (Preferred).  CPA Required (or Candidate for CPA). 
  • Minimum three years’ work experience with accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 and also federal and state tax return preparation.  Public Accounting Experience Preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with OneSource software preferred. 
  • Automated fixed asset depreciation system experience desirable.
  • SAP experience preferred.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
