Job Description

SUMMARY 

Responsible for the comprehensive accounting functions of specific manufacturing assets.  Duties include recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating financial activity and results. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information in SAP to prepare and post journal entries.
  • Compiles and analyzes material information in SAP to value raw material inventories and finished goods.
  • Compiles and analyzes information in SAP using the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to generate assets in the Fixed Assets modular as well as retire assets when they are no longer in service.
  • Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliation’s for balance sheets accounts as well as specific P&L accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Documents and coordinates implementation of accounting internal control and SOX procedures.
  • Responsible for monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation. Manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to management requests. Identifies and assists on  continuous improvement initiatives. Investigates and addresses issues with vendor payments and other expenditures for the company.
  • Performs monthly financial close and analyze accounts for reasonableness to provide financial reports to division and corporate management.
  • Interface with internal departments to compile financial data to satisfy corporate consolidation reporting requirements.
  • Assist the Internal Auditor to perform initial financial department audits to insure accuracy.
  • Compile financial data for corporate tax reporting to comply with federal state and government requirements.
  • Performs detailed analysis as needed on operations and recommends appropriate action.
  • Works and communicates regularly with personnel to insure complete information flows, adequate explanations on variances and ensure fair allocation of costs. 
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

Prefer 2 plus years’ experience in accounting, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
