Job Description

Under direction of the Tax Director, the Tax Supervisor will supervise the daily compliance operations of the tax department; preparation of consolidated federal tax return, applicable state tax returns, and quarterly estimated tax payments utilizing applicable compliance, respond to notices, data management and workflow software such as SharePoint.  The Supervisor will advise and support Tax Director and other Tax Managers in corporate tax research, planning, and federal and state tax audits.


  • Manage the day-to-day tax compliance operations of the tax department, coordinating U.S. Federal and U.S. International tax compliance to ensure the related tax compliance output will provide an accurate and timely filed federal consolidated tax return (ex. F1120, F1118, F5471, F8858, F8865, statements and disclosures).
  • Manage day-to-day tax compliance operations of the tax department, coordinating U.S. State income and franchise tax compliance, so that the related tax compliance output will provide accurate and timely filed state tax returns (ex. unitary, combined and separate company) for a multitude of taxing jurisdictions.
  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of tax basis balance sheets and subsidiary stock basis computations for organizational legal entities.
  • Maintain an accurate compliance tax calendar to assure timely filing of federal and state tax returns and quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver compliance workflows using SharePoint or other similar software independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform technical review and research of complex tax return issues.
  • Manage external vendors.
  • Mentor, train, and develop direct reports.
  • Assist Tax Director or other Tax Managers in corporate tax research, tax planning and special projects as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Fully supports company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.


  • Responsible for the supervision of two Sr. Tax Analysts


  • Experience with SAP accounting systems, BPC consolidation software  and OneSource income tax software helpful.
  • Strong communication skills needed to deal with different levels of staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from four-year college or university, Masters in Tax preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) year work experience required including experience with U.S. federal and state income tax compliance and experience with automated tax return preparation software.
  • CPA required. 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel up to 10% including air travel or auto travel.
