Job Description


The primary role of this position is to provide the necessary engineering and technical support to continuously improve plant equipment integrity, reliability, cost and economic performance.

  • Provide technical support to production, capital and maintenance departments.
  • Learn and understand maintenance and production work processes, methods, cost points, etc.
  • Train to become a Longview Site resource for processing equipment, including compressors, gearboxes, extruders, mixers, melt pumps and rotary feeders.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining reliability improvement / tracking programs for critical assets.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve reliability
  • Participate in root cause and FMEA failure analysis on critical equipment failures.
  • Perform component failure analysis as required, under close supervision.
  • Witness repairs to critical equipment and performance testing of new equipment as needed.
  • Initiate capital projects to maintain / enhance business goals
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the preventative/predictive maintenance program
  • Participate actively in department/plant safety and environmental programs
  • Assist in the investigation and evaluation of new methodologies, work practices, and technology
  • Develop, review, and maintain equipment specifications as related to purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance, under close supervision.
  • Develop and implement alteration and revisions to equipment to improve business performance of the operating units, under close supervision.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the operating/maintenance organization concerning improvement oriented efforts.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; preferably Mechanical Engineering.  A minimum of one year of experience in an engineering role in a petrochemical plant is required.  Prefer experience in a reliability role.
