Job Description

Job Summary:


The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing and developing solutions to support compounding, extrusion and secondary processes. This includes design and development of new processes, modification of existing processes, cost improvement initiatives and quality improvement projects.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Help develop, trial and implement new or improved material compounds, colors, processes, machinery and tooling to meet productivity and business objectives.
  • Lead and coach production personnel on process, equipment, and analytical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. 
  • Become Subject Matter Expert in their facility’s key processes - spend time on floor, inspect lines regularly, learn from plant personnel, track and analyze process conditions and supporting productions reports, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy of data and quality of product.
  • Assist in capital equipment budget planning and specifying to improve on existing production techniques and to develop new products and production methods.
  • Assist R&D in handing off new products, concepts and ideas to Manufacturing.
  • Support Sales, R&D and Quality in investigating customer complaints related to product quality.
  • Lead events in lean initiatives such as 6S, VSM and Kaizen
  • Identifies, plans, executes and communicates results for process improvement projects that improve business performance in the form of material yields, machine efficiencies and operational costs.
  • Attend trade shows, classes and training seminars to keep skills up to date and learn about new equipment, chemicals, new processes related to our industry.
  • Ensure equipment and processes comply with federal and state safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to satisfaction of your reporting manager.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) – Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer or Plastics Engineering preferred

  • Experience:

Minimum 5 years of functional and HANDS-ON process engineering experience within polymer extrusion processes such as sheet, cast film, profile, pipe, decking, fence, etc...


Rigid and/or Cellular PVC experience a plus.

  • Skills:

Must be able to organize data, people and tasks; possess leadership skills; have a strong working knowledge of our products and possess problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.


Knowledge of the manufacture, testing, analysis and application of PVC Resins.


Six sigma green/black belt and knowledge of DOE, DMAIC, Fishbone, 5-Why, etc. is preferred.

  • Communication:
