Application Engineering Manager - Technical Sales Building Products

The Technical Services Manager will lead a team of engineers by setting a strategic vision of providing industry leading pre-sales and post-sales technical support.  NAPCO produces PVC Pipe and Fittings in the United States and Canada for applications in the building products, irrigation, and waterworks industries.  Our ideal candidate will become an expert on our product lines and will develop strong working relationships with our Sales Team and Customers.

  • Positively differentiate NAPCO from standard PVC pipe product competitors and drive new customer and market acquisition with specialty product offerings,
  • Be a Voice-of-the-Customer to Product Management and Development teams to help drive innovation and growth activities.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Technical Services Manager must guide and oversee the tactical activities of the group in several areas.



Pre-Sales Technical Support

  • Timely phone & email application engineering & technical support to ensure products are specified and used properly.
  • Track interactions for trend analysis and lead generation.
  • Assist Sales team with closing key opportunities with Lunch & Learn and product approval board presentations.
  • Create concise, consistent, and accurate technical literature and website content that is presented in an on-message and well-organized manner.
  • Create intuitive and easy-to-use sales applications to win opportunities and enhance our marketplace reputation.


Post-Sales Technical Support

  • Provide installation troubleshooting and product complaint handling triage service.
  • Review product complaint inspection data and provide root cause analysis.
  • Work with Quality, Operations, and other departments to drive learnings from complaints into the continuous improvement process, with the overall objective being to lower complaints and associated costs, and to drive higher levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Complete annual complaint reporting and trend analyses to focus future educational, manufacturing, and product development efforts.


Technical Expertise

  • Become a PVC pipe subject matter expert that can be relied on by both customers and coworkers to provide accurate information in a timely manner
  • Provide internal and external educational tools to improve product knowledge and reduce internal and third party errors.
  • Serve as the company technical authority in all legal matters.
  • Serve as the technical liaison to Marketing Communications department.
  • SolidWorks Product Data Management document control software Architect activities.
    • Documentation control organization and revision control workflows


Industry Participation

  • Represent the interests of our pipe businesses with various agencies and trade groups to drive creation of industry best-practice specs and publications.



Joint Activities

  • Support Product Development and Product Management groups during combined activities that reduce and costs, enhance organizational agility, and improve business processes.



KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILL SETS



Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from accredited 4-year university
  • Professional Engineer license
  • 8+ years’ experience in diverse engineering and project management roles with a
  • Expert understanding of fluid flow and engineering mechanics principles
  • Expert word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills.
  • Familiarity with SalesForce.com or other CRM programs
  • SolidWorks Product Data Management or similar document control software administration.
  • Fundamental understanding of Enterprise-level software installation and distribution, Microsoft Server activities and networking
